Collection of Information

The Grief Centre of Western Australia (GCWA) adheres to the Information Privacy Principles articulated in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.

We will be fair in the way we collect information from you. We will tell you who we are, what type of information we hold about you and how we intend to use it.


Use and disclosure

We will only use or disclose information about you in ways that are consistent with your expectations.


Data quality, security and confidentiality

The GCWA ensures that all personal information collected is securely stored and safe from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. We have in place policies and procedures for information to be kept confidential and meet National Privacy Principles. Staff are trained and conversant with the codes of conduct about privacy.


Email security and confidentiality

All e-mails sent by the Grief Centre are private and confidential and intended for the recipient specified in message only.


If you received an email from the Grief Centre inadvertently, please inform the sender immediately and delete the email from your system. You are requested not to copy, distribute, place any reliance upon or disseminate the e-mail (including any attachments) without the consent of the Grief Centre.


All incoming and outgoing e-mails are scanned for computer viruses.


Views expressed in e-mails from Grief Centre staff and volunteers are not the views of the Centre unless clearly indicated.


Your email address

The GCWA will only record your email address in the event that you send a message via a webpage request, or direct email, or if you request update notifications. If you do not want your email address to be recorded, you can send an email to the admin@griefcentrewa.org.au, or via mail at the address below.


Your email address and/or your postal addresses will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided them, or used or disclosed for any other purpose, without your prior written consent.  Your email address maybe added to our e-newsletter database however you are free to unsubscribe at any time.


The internet is an insecure medium and you should be aware that there are inherent risks transmitting information within it. Information submitted via email or web forms may be at risk of being intercepted, read, or modified.

Our website contains links to other sites. The GCWA is not responsible for the privacy practices nor the content of any web sites other than our own.

If you want us to and we are able, we will communicate with you anonymously.

We understand that information collected about your relationships or yourself is important to you. Our staff work with you on a range of issues affecting your life. We realise this information can sometimes be sensitive. We take our commitment to privacy legislation seriously and for many years have provided quality confidential services to the Western Australian community.


Comments, Corrections or Complaints

We encourage you to give the Grief Centre feedback on our website to ensure it is accurate and user-friendly.  Should you have a complain about our services, we commit to providing a safe environment for you to be heard in. The purpose of our complaints system is to improve our services.  We are interested in what you have to say, and will ensure that any complaints will be dealt with respectfully and quickly.
